Mark has worked as a management consultant since graduating from Harvard Business School more than 20 years ago. He has worked in litigation support and expert witness testimony for over half of that time. His expertise and experience include marketing, competition, innovation, intellectual property, service industries, and finance. Mark worked in Washington as the lead in the “Reinventing Government” initiative for the US Department of Labor.
Brenda Arnott-Wesson has been involved in the expert witness consulting industry for nearly fifteen years. During that time she has helped experts in a broad range of cases to develop thoroughly researched yet accessible expert reports and to prepare for deposition and trial testimony. She has also worked closely with counsel and experts to develop case strategy, including the approach to deposing and cross-examining opposing experts. Brenda has experience with many types of cases, including those involving branding, business strategy, marketing communication, unfair trade practices, anti-trust, retailing and financial disclosure.
Dr. Tom Wesson
Dr. Tom Wesson provides management and economic expertise for GBX clients. Recently, he has managed a number of financial services cases involving large global financial institutions. Previously, he worked on litigation resulting from the financial crisis and its aftermath. He also has contributed to cases in a wide variety of additional areas from trademark violation to online retailing. Tom’s work has included drafting expert reports and rebuttal reports and developing materials designed to help clients prepare for deposition defense and for deposing opposing experts.
Tom has also consulted to a broad range of private sector clients, including included major retailers, computer animation studios, trade associations and consumer product manufacturers.
Tom is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto. In addition to his teaching in the MBA program at Schulich, Tom has been actively involved in the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA program since its founding in 2001. This program is currently the top EMBA program in the world according to The Economist magazine. Tom has also taught extensively in executive programs at Schulich and in Asia and the Caribbean.
Tom’s academic research focuses on the relationship between business and government and on the application of private sector management tools in the public and third sectors. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University in Ontario and his Master of Business Administration and Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University.
Kerin E. Coughlin
Kerin E. Coughlin contributes to GBX consulting projects by applying her extensive legal experience to support the expert witness. In particular, she assists experts with deposition and trial preparation. She also provides support on cases involving antitrust and other competition issues.
She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School. She was commercial litigator with Constantine Cannon LLP in New York for nine years, representing plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of business competition matters. Kerin worked closely with experts who provided testimony in her cases, including several supported by GBX.
Kerin has published numerous articles on business competition issues in law journals and other legal publications and is on the Executive Committee of the Antitrust Section of the New York State Bar Association. Kerin has been an Assistant Attorney General with the New York State Attorney General's Office and a law clerk to a federal judge. She currently is on the faculty of New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York and has taught at Cardozo Law School. Kerin holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany and a master's degree in Urban Affairs from the City University of New York, Queens College.
